On July 1st, the Home Electric Water Heater Professional Committee of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association held its first meeting of 2015 in Huadu, Guangzhou, including Midea, Haier, and A O. Nearly 100 representatives from more than 50 member units, including Smith, Wanhe, and Weber, attended the meeting. The meeting extensively discussed and deliberated on the current market situation, opportunities, challenges, and response measures for electric water heaters.

At the meeting, according to official statistics, the total production capacity of water heaters in China in 2014 was about 39 million units, with a production of about 28 million units and a domestic sales of about 20 million units. These figures have all slightly increased compared to 2013.

Looking back at the overall development trend of water heaters in the first half of 2015, Haier and A O. Representatives such as Smith and Weber have expressed that it can be described as mixed feelings.
A. O. Smith Business General Manager Song Guangping believes that in today's society, consumers are willing to spend money to buy good things. Zhang Yumin, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Weber New Energy, also stated at the meeting: "The current development of water heaters is not very optimistic. This year, both OEM and domestic brands have not grown much. Currently, e-commerce is still mainly low-end and has not yet reached a very healthy era.

At the same time, the meeting conducted in-depth discussions on the development trends of the electric water heater industry, the main problems currently faced by the industry, and the future development direction of the electric water heater industry. The convening of this meeting has made more electric water heater companies understand the focus of their development in 2015 and clarified the future trends of the entire electric water heater industry.
